This past weekend was one to remember, my debut in the Alpine Elf Cup Series at the iconic Nogaro circuit. It marked my first official races in the Alpine A110 Cup car, and what a way to kick things off!
The weekend wasn’t going to make things easy. From the very first practice session, the weather was unpredictable. Heavy rain showers rolled through, leaving the track wet one moment and drying the next. Changing conditions kept everyone guessing, and mistakes were everywhere! Several drivers including myself ended up off-track throughout the sessions.
Qualifying Drama
Heading into the qualifying session on a drying track, the car felt fantastic. I quickly found my rhythm, and with growing confidence, I was battling right at the top of the time sheets, fighting for pole position. For most of the session, I was sitting in P2, pushing hard and feeling strong.
However, with just five minutes to go, I was unexpectedly called into the pitbox for a quick repair to the underside of the car. That brief stop, while necessary, meant I couldn’t get back out onto the improving track surface causing me to drop from P2 all the way down to P15 by the end of the session. A tough break, but it only fueled the fire for the races ahead.
Race 1: Consistency Pays Off
The first race brought more changing weather, with rain showers making strategy and patience crucial. I focused on consistency, staying out of trouble while keeping good pace. It wasn’t a race for heroics it was about making smart moves and managing the ever-evolving track conditions.
That approach paid off, and claimed my first podium in the Challenger class an incredible way to kick off the weekend!
Race 2: A Lightning Start
Lining up P15 on the grid for the 2nd race on Monday, I knew I had work to do. As the lights went out, I launched off the line and pulled off a sensational opening lap, overtaking five cars in just a single lap! The move drew gasps from the crowd and captured the attention of the media and fans around the circuit.
Through tricky track conditions and fierce competition, I kept pushing forward, carefully managing the changing grip levels. By the end of the race, I had fought my way up the field I was able to secure my second podium in the Challenger class rounding off my debut weekend with two trophies and a lot of momentum going forward.
I'm proud of the resilience and pace I was able to show in such difficult conditions, and I’m even more motivated for the next races. This is just the beginning of the journey with the Alpine A110 Cup, and I can’t wait to get back out there!
Thank you to everyone who supported me this weekend, see you at the next round!
